How to keep your gloves fresh, breathable & clean.
A lot of people ask us what's the best way to clean your gloves. Our answer is always the same: "Never clean up your gloves!". Well, you could get a rag and wash the outside layer. But never try to deep wash it or god forbid put it in a washing machine of any kind. It will destroy the padding and stitching and your gloves lifetime will get shorter.
The secret is to keep your gloves clean and fresh all the times. After your workouts, make sure to leave the gloves in a way that lets air circulation to go through it. If your gloves base isn't so firm you can shove something round into it (as you may see in the picture below). This will help the gloves dry faster prevent odor and bacteria from spreading. Some People will take it one step further - put the gloves in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for the night to slow the bacteria from spreading.
At the end, you can soak and squeeze a towel with leather oil and wipe the outside leather layer (that's of course if the gloves are made of some kind of leather). this will keep the leather fibers strong and smooth.
Some Extra Tips:
- Never put your gloves out in the sun, although it will dry them up, it would also harm the materials and will shorten your gloves lifetime.
- Use hand wraps. This tip is first for your own health and protection and you should always do so regardless of hygiene reasons. But, wearing wraps will also create a buffer between your hands and the gloves and it'll soak most of the sweat. The good thing about wraps is that you can wash them very easily compared to your gloves.
- Use blow dryer for faster results if you'll need your gloves again soon. Just make sure to use the cool mode, so you won't hurt and burn the gloves.
